Queen Christina Williams
Nickname: “Bink”, “Marie”, “Eywa”, “Chris”. “Stina”
Major: Liberal Studies, Psychology emphasis
Hometown: Santa Barbara, CA
Favorite Food: Wienerschnitzel
Something people do not know about me: I once started a baking club in high school, I owned seven dogs at one time, my right leg is shorter than my left, I am an aunt.
Time here at APU: The past three years at APU have been such a huge blessing. I have been able to be a part of the Alpha program, the High Sierra Semester, Mexico Outreach, and Rezlife, all of which have allowed me to grow closer to Christ and serve others. This community of Christ seeking faculty and students will never seize to amaze, and I am truly lucky to be a part of it.
Advice: Do not be afraid to allow Christ to re-shape your heart, for He wants to make you into something more beautiful.
Favorite Verse: Ephesians 5:1-2, This verse simply reminds me of my calling to be an imitator of Christ, and to live out my life for the sake of others.
Reaction to nomination and win: I wasn’t able to attend the senior chapel where the nominations were made, and really had no idea we had even voted when I found out that I was on the court. When Jordan Flowers asked for my picture as I was walking past the SGA office, I sincerely thought he was joking. I really wasn’t anticipating the nomination or the win, but I feel extremely honored and blessed to have been able to be a part of this whole experience.
My superpower: Honestly, I would just like to be Thor or Yoda.
After APU: I am not entirely sure what the next phase of my life entails, but whatever I do I hope to serve and love others, whether that’s working at a summer camp or going to graduate school. I’m honestly just trusting God with my next steps. I eventually hope to get my teaching credential and work in an elementary school.
My hero: My hero would have to be my family, for the way they are able to persevere through even the hardest times.
King James Brooks
Nickname: Don’t really have one… never thought “Jim” fit my personality.
Major: Music
Hometown: Claremont, CA
Favorite Food: Asian Cuisine
Something people do not know about me: When I was a freshman in high school, I played Christopher Robin (the boy from Winnie the Pooh) in our Children’s Theatre production. Shortest blue shorts I’ve ever worn in my life.
Time here at APU: Life-altering. Seeing who I was in high school, and seeing where I am now… Wow. So much growth. And I owe it all to God’s work, and the people He placed so intentionally in my life during my time at APU.
Reaction to nomination and win: I was really humbled to be selected by our class to be on homecoming court. Such a quality group of men and women. When I heard my name being called for king, all I could think about was all of my friends from APU who have poured into me, and how God made me the man I am today through them. I’m very thankful for the honor, but it’s got to go to Him.
After APU? I hope to continue my development as a songwriter, and eventually work for a publishing company writing music for big-time artists. I also hope to write songs and record albums for my own performance career, though I’m not sure what that will look like just yet. Spending some time in music ministry at a church is also something I feel called to do. And when the time is right, I can’t wait to settle down and start a family.
My hero: My hero is the “thumbs up for rock and roll” kid on YouTube, the one learning how to ride a bike. Have you seen that kid? No fear. And such an encourager. My greatest inspiration.
My superpower: Flying, without a doubt. That would be rad. Except I hope I wouldn’t become too lazy. One of my greatest fears is becoming like all the humans in Wall-E. Whoah… just got the heebie-jeebies.
If you could add switch places with anyone for a day who would it be? I’d probably switch places with Clayton Kershaw, pitcher for the L.A. Dodgers. Playing big league baseball was a dream of mine growing up. To pitch just one game would be so rad.
